This month we didn’t have an outside singer/band or speaker. We enjoyed singing praises along with a CD and Mike Miller spoke on Psalm 23.

I just had to share this picture of our 2 year old following along.

We had a good meeting this month. Sloppy Joes were served at 6pm.

At 7pm we entered the church sanctuary only to find out that the A/C was putting out heat! By the time we left it was 86 degrees inside. We still had a great worship and message.

Matt Sanders, from Covenant Family Worship Center, provided the singing.

And Mike McKinney, also from Covenant Family Worship Center, was our speaker.

Birth of the Sanctuary

Posted in Uncategorized on March 11, 2009 by Mike

When I turned my life completely over to the Lord in 1998, I knew then that He had called me to work with Youth. However, I didn’t realize at the time that it would take 11 years before the Lord would give me the “greenlight.” I have since learned that when the Lord calls you to do a certain work, it’s not necessarily going to be immediately. He has to prepare you for that specific mission. When a soldier is given a special mission, he has to go through special training before he’s sent out on the field. God works the same way.

On January 1st, 2009,  God gave me a vision of the Sanctuary, then He  said, “Go forth and obey for I will bring the people.”

My Testimony

Posted in Uncategorized on March 7, 2009 by Mike

Hi y’all. My name is Mike. I was born in Ohio in 1975. Now I live in TN. Let me tell you how I got here.

I first accepted Jesus Christ as my personal savior when I was 9 years old and baptized in water one week later. I went to a christian school from K-9th, and I started public school my 10th grade year. At which point I started hanging around the wrong crowd, drinking, rebelling, and smoking pot.

My senior year I got jumped in the hallway and was stabbed. The doctor’s told me that I was lucky to be alive because it was an inch away from my jugular vein. The gang that jumped me said that if I came back to school that they would kill me. Needless to say, I dropped out.

I got married 7 months later, at the age of 19. Two years later I found out that she was cheating on me. We got into a heated argument and even though I never laid a hand on her, I spent the night in jail. We divorced 3 months later and I ended up even further from God.

In November 1996, my best friend and I were out partying all night. I got so drunk that I barely remember the night. We decided that he would drive my parents’ car because he wasn’t as drunk as me. As we left a pool hall, some dudes sideswiped my parents’ car as they were entering the parking lot. So we decided to wait across the street until they came out. At which point, we took off after them. At some point they ended up chasing us. I’ll tell you now, that when you are doing 60 miles an hour around a curve you will end up in a house, like we did. Luckily, no one in the house was hurt. God was watching over them. They had just went into the kitchen to fix some popcorn when we landed on their couch.

God was also watching over us. In fact, I believe God sent angels to protect us. To this day, no one understands how we did not end up flying out of the car. The police told us that even going 35 miles an hour should have thrown us out. The next 6 weeks I was flat on my back, recovering from a shattered knee cap. So I spent my time crying out to God, pleading with God, and begging God for forgiveness and healing.

Over the next 2 years I was trying to make a change. In 1998, I made a definite decision to live for God regardless of the cost. Even if it meant that I lost all of my friends. In August, I got filled with the Holy Spirit. I gave up drinking, smoking, and cussing. Anything that was not of God, I didn’t want anymore. At the end of September, God led me to a little (in numbers only)  house church. I know it was God because the first night I went there, the pastor prophesied over me the exact same words that God spoke to me one night when I was laying flat on my back recovering from my shattered knee cap. He said that I was his prophet and He has sent me to preach the Word. In December, the pastor started having me preach.

The next year, I got married to a girl that went to the same church.

Seven years and four kids later, God told us to move to Tennessee. This is where I am at today. We’ve been through a lot together, but it’s only because of God’s love and because we make God the center of our lives that we are HERE!
